Tanev for as much as he hustles didn't work hard enough on that breakaway. Maybe he was extended on a shift but he can take some heat there also. Defense is a five man operation.

I may be in the minority, but I miss watching MAF in the net. That is not to say Murray isn't a good goalie. I just loved MAF's style and flair. Going to be a fun game to watch.

I thought McCann played very well at both ends. The defense generally did a good job getting the puck to the forwards with speed.

Youth advice column pfft. Like anyone other than old hockey nerds that haven’t played since bantam or junior 10-20 years ago read this stuff. I wish he’d break down each line and d-pairs advanced stats though per game so I don’t have to think I’m gonna do it myself but never get around to it.

This was a missed opportunity on RW's part and substantiates my argument from the previous blog. Instead of blaming JJ, which he does deserve some blame. He could have said analytics be damned, here is a situation where a man wants $3.5M because he is a hustler and he didn't bust his tail back to defend.

The hockey world doesn't revolve around Jack Johnson and analytics.

Analytics prove all. Hire the best analyzers to analate and the pens could win all. Need to get on with the modern world boys.

In the Fleury/Murray controversy I have always preferred Fleury. I think in some of the supposed "playoff blowups" it was more a case of being hung out to dry by the rest of the team. Every goalie has a point where they "just snap" when the team in front of them plays carelessly and gives up too many odd-man breaks and, after this, they start letting softer goals out of frustration and despair. This happened to Fleury several times, particularly in the 2012 playoffs. However, technically speaking, I think he was not only the best Pens goalie ever but one of the best goalies to come into the league in the past 20 years. His only major weakness was puck handling.

Letang looked like Crosby last night on that goal .

You seem to be a connoisseur of good eats; have you ever had Conecuh before? When I moved to the south from MD, a friend of mine grilled some up and I've never looked back. Everyone I suggest it to, loves it. I am currently working in TX and it's unavailable here. So, when I go home to AL, I run to Sam's and buy like 40lbs of it to bring back with me.

Absolutely. Last night people were already hating on it, discussing how "hateful" his blog was going to be. Im positive he just find ways to put JJ there and see the comment section burn.

The way that game was going I was prepared for a loss. Nice to see them step it up and avoid one of “those games”.
